This was the first meeting the group held. We began discussin different aspects of Networking and Communications:

Will need commitment, beyond money, from agencies; build advocates. Stan gave some history of the Monterey County Literacy Alliance. Its mission is to promote and advocate for literacy and to support individuals and organizations (make referrals, grant writing, etc.)

Bring Literacy Alliance materials to share with the Group and share lessons learned

Stan, Alliance members

Increase capacity of agencies. Consider future Networking opportunities/meetings with  2-3 hour training (open to literacy and nonliteracy-related agencies), followed by a Networking meeting (i.e. 0-5 population, probation and child advocates)

3

Consider coordinating regular bimonthly learning/sharing/ training meetings, held in different cities in the County. May also showcase a program and its progress.

Share info and coordinate with P&PD Group

Poll Network regarding best time of day, lunch or end of day?

Directory of Services to be shared with the public, learners, and referring agencies. Needs to be kept up-to-date, may need a designated person/agency to monitor (i.e. Resourcebook). Directory (compiled in 2006 by CFMC) has not yet been shared. CFMC has looked into ways of sharing the Directory (toll-free phone, 211, paper or electronic to referral agencies, online for agencies and community (communitylinks.net)

Share current directory with Annabelle and Katy, as requested
